EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Colts Youth Organization welcomes candidates to apply for the role of executive director. The Colts Board of Directors plans to name the organization's next executive director in spring 2026, allowing for a summer of overlap before taking over the chief executive role following the retirement of current Executive Director Jeff MacFarlane in September 2026. Interested candidates should click the APPLICATION button below and upload their resume. The Colts boast a 60+ year history (est. 1963) having served thousands of youth through their life-shaping programs. The strong foundation they've built has the organization poised to continue offering these opportunities for many years to come.
Seasonal
Each summer, the Colts and Colt Cadets require dozens of personnel to manage all the tasks necessary to successfully operate their summer tours. Interested persons can submit their desire to join our team at any time. We will generally begin filling roles on the educational staff in the fall, and then work on filling out the tour team in the spring. Volunteers are needed throughout the summer as well as at our weekend camps.
MEDICAL TEAM
The Colts will employ two Certified Athletic Trainers throughout spring training and will travel on tour with at least one ATC professional at all times. Colt Cadets also require a medical professional to be with them as they travel. The Colts are “in session” from Memorial Day weekend through DCI Championships in August. The Colt Cadets tour throughout five Midwest states for the first two weeks of July, and then the Open Class tour picks up in late July and leads them into DCI Championships in Indianapolis.
CDL & OTHER DRIVERS
The Colts seek Class A CDL drivers, Class B CDL drivers, a souvenir operation driver (pickup truck with 18’ pull behind sales trailer), and a props driver (typically a 26-foot box truck). Class A & B drivers will need air brake certification for the summer tours. Preferred candidates will be those available from late June through early August. The Colts own a fleet of vehicles including two motorcoaches, an entertainer bus, a semi tractor and three trailers, four passenger vans, a dually pickup, two UTVs, and a variety of utility trailers. Additionally, two semi tractors and one box truck are leased each season to carry each corps down the road.
MERCHANDISE MANAGERS
The Colts will employ one or two merchandise managers for the summer tour. These individuals manage inventory, handle sales, and set up/tear down the summer souvenir operation for the organization. These roles offer a bit more flexibility with time and travel than other summer tour roles. Interested individuals may apply as part of a team or individually.
SOUND ENGINEERS / ELECTRONICS PRODUCTION
The Colts Drum & Bugle Corps seeks sound production engineers and support team members. These roles are specifically for the Colts summer tour. Individuals will report to the lead audio engineer (specifically, A1 and A2 technicians are desired). The sound team is responsible for the assembly, operation and maintenance of the technical equipment used to amplify, balance and enhance the Colts sound during summer rehearsals and performances. Interested candidates should be beyond marching eligibility. Internship roles are available if desired.
MEDIA TEAM MEMBERS / PHOTOGRAPHER / VIDEOGRAPHER
Summer photographers and videographers will report to the media manager. A creative eye and understanding of basic photo or video editing is preferred. Internships may be arranged for these roles, but applicants should be beyond marching age.
PROPS / TOUR SUPPORT / EVENT ROLES
With two drum corps, there are always many roles that need to be covered for some or all of the summer months! Additionally, the Colts operate four DCI summer tour events along with offseason camps and occasional fundraising events. Let us know how you might be interested in supporting Colts members! Internships may be arranged for a variety of roles in media, arts administration, or business.
