Colts Summer Band

The Colts Youth Organization launched the Colts Summer Band in 2006 to provide a performance ensemble opportunity and summer lessons for instrumental music students in grades 4-8. Nearly 50 young people were members of the group in the inaugural year.

The program runs four weeks, and includes a weekly private or semi-private lesson and concert band rehearsals. The season culminates in early July with a concert at Eagle Point Park in Dubuque.

Directors for the group are Dan Norman, band director at Eleanor Roosevelt Middle School, and John Garde, a member of the instrumental music staff for the Dubuque schools. The Dubuque Area Summer Band program was founded by Cynthia Mueller, former band director at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Dubuque.

The summer band has been using the wonderful facilities at Eleanor Roosevelt Middle School and benefits from our strong and growing partnerships with the Dubuque Community School District and the entire community.
