Ballard Named Colts Corps Director
September 15, 2026
Kathleen Ballard will lead the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps into the next phase in their journey as one of DCI's more consistent World Class Finalist corps. The Colts have finished 9th at the Drum Corps International World Championships in three of the past four years. Kathleen steps into the shoes of Vicki MacFarlane who was selected in April as the next executive director of the organization following the retirement of their current CEO in September. Kathleen most recently served as assistant director for both the Colts and Colt Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps.
"We’re excited to elevate Kathleen into the role of corps director for the Colts,” said Colts Executive Director Vicki MacFarlane. “She brings incredible skills, experience, and continuity we’ve been striving for and helps move the organization forward seamlessly. The educational team is overwhelmingly supportive of her promotion. I am so proud and excited for her and our future."
Kathleen joined the Colts admin team in 2022 after using her dietetics degree to work in school food service for three years. As a performer, she played cymbals in the Raiders Drum & Bugle Corps, WGI World Class Finalist United Percussion, and the University of Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hen Marching Band.
"I look forward to continuing to work with the drum corps in this new capacity," said Kathleen. "The people within this organization have always been the best part of the Colts, and I am eager to build on the relationships I’ve developed with so many incredible designers, educators, volunteers and students."
