Colt Cadets Build Community With Their 2025 Production, The Hive

The Colt Cadets present their 2025 program, The Hive — a celebration of bees and their unity, their strength, and the beauty of their hidden world. Set entirely within the hive, the show explores the bees' complex society, tireless work, and the cycle of renewal they embody. Featuring fresh arrangements from Ralph Vaughn Williams' “The Wasp,” the dynamic music of “Run the World (Girls)” by Beyonce, the introspective “Honeybee” by the Steam Powered Giraffes, the powerful work of “Foundry” by John Mackey, and finally a familiar favorite — “Flight of the Bumblebee” — by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.

“Things are already off to a great start,” said Color Guard Caption Head Riley Speer. “The design team was extremely collaborative and proactive in the offseason, which in turn has made for a seamless move-ins experience and beginning to spring training for all involved.”

CC Brass Caption Head Alex Weinzierl, new to his role this year, along with Percussion Caption Head Tim Berg, echo these sentiments. “We are really excited to bring this show to life and see the growth in the members over the course of the season.”

Colt Cadets Director Harlan Pfohl is ready for audiences to catch a glimpse of the production. "Colt Cadets is a great way to get started in the drum corps activity," said Harlan. "We have a full schedule of shows planned for the summer including a season-ending performance at the DCI World Championships in Indianapolis.”

Stepping formally back into the role of program coordinator this year, after his last time officially leading the charge 10 years ago, Andrew Eaton is looking forward to this year and what the summer will bring. Andrew commented, “We have put a lot of thought into this year’s show, and what is the best product for the students to perform. While staying involved and getting to watch the activity change, we get to put new ideas on the field that still hit the audience in the right spots.”
